Getting Started

Thinking of giving your child or yourself an introduction to music but you don’t know where to start?
Here are some affordable choices that you may consider. All of them are in “Low Cost” Category.

Here are the Details:

1.Starter Piano

(for beginners only) piano music note
FIRST 10 lessons for $100, ½ hour weekly private lessons with apprentice teachers, all of whom have professional piano degrees.
Student must have daily access to a piano. Tuition fee non-refundable. $45 membership fee also applies.

2.Children’s Choir: Maria Goobar

Choir practices on Mondays, starting September 11, 2017.
Classes are 4:15-5:00 p.m. Grade 1-Grade 6, 32 weeks $120.00
and 5:00-6:15 p.m. for Grade 7-Grade 12, 32 weeks $150.00
Performances are held during the school year.
Plus $8 for choir t-shirt
$45 Membership to RMS


3.Violin Outreach Program for Children: Tatyana Kravsun

The violins are loaned free to the students while they are in the program.

When? Tuesdays and Saturdays, hours vary. Each session will be two 1-hour classes per week for 12 weeks.

Where? At the Richmond Music School, 11731 No. 3 Rd, Richmond

Cost? $300.00 per 12 week session

Who? Director Tatyana Kravsun, Violin Teacher, B. Mus, M. Mus.

Level 1 – Learning together in a musical ensemble for performance purpose and understanding of posture, finger position, etc.

Level 2 – Developing stronger technique and performance skills while learning a wide repertoire. This level of students should have completed Level 1 or have permission of the instructor.

Level 3 – For students who have completed Level 1 and 2 or have instructor’s permission. At this level students will build on techniques introduced in Level 1 and 2.


4.Beginner Guitar: Kyle Hawkes

$50 special for 5 private half hour lessons to try it out.


5.Children’s Orchestra: Allen Stiles

Free, for all interested string players with a love for music, a commitment to attend rehearsals and time to practice – Tuesdays
For string players: If you are 9 or over and can play level 5 Violin, Cello, Bass or Flute, come and play with us. 36 weeks, 1 hour per week. Tuition Free
Every Tuesday from 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM
