New Faculty Member: Rebecca Paulding, Soprano

We are pleased to announce new Faculty member, Rebecca Paulding, Voice Teacher and Honour Choir Director!

Rebecca holds a Bachelor and Masters of Music in Opera Performance from UBC and an ARCT in Piano Performance from RCM in Toronto and brings with her a wealth of education and performing experience. As a BC Arts Council Award, recipient, she has performed as a soloist for: Beethoven’s 9th Symphony – LCMS Anniversary concert with Vancouver Bach Choir, Mozart Requiem – Gloria Dei Chorale, Vancouver Symphony Christmas Concerts, Harbour Cruise Lines, Musica Intima, Chilliwack Youth Orchestra Messiah, Jubilate Vocal Ensemble, FV Philharmonic. Her Operatic and Musical Theatre roles include:  Marian the Librarian (The Music Man 2018 North Van), Fiordiligi (Cosi fan tutte 2016 Lucca, Italy), Rusalka (Rusalka Teplice, Czech Republic and UBC), Musetta (La Boheme, Czech Republic and Bard on the Beach Vancouver), Marguerite (Louis Riel UBC), to name a few.

 

She will be directing the Honour Choir, Mondays from 5:00pm-6:30pm and will be teaching private voice lessons on Mondays from 6:30pm-9:00pm.

 

The Honour Choir is a new program in which Students will learn about basic vocal health and vocal exercises, solfege, vocal production – healthy singing!  There will be an emphasis on blending, and how to sing in an ensemble.  Additionally, Students will learn about the 5 pure Italian vowels, and how to incorporate these into their English diction, proper pronunciation with other languages, phrasing and basic musical terms.  Emphasis will be put on performing etiquette, stage presence and expression.  Memorization techniques, and some basic sight reading skills will also be taught.
