Safety and Health Policies

January 23, 2023 (updated)

Richmond Music School Health and Safety Policies:

As all Covid-19 restrictions have been lifted by the British Columbia health authority for quite some time; after assessing the current safety and health situation; we have updated our policy. We recognize that there are varying degrees of comfort, and we ask our community to be kind, considerate and respect others.

As of January 23, 2023, masks will no longer be required at RMS and will become a matter of personal preference unless otherwise noted below. This will apply to all Groups, Ensembles, and Private lessons with the exemption (see below):

Private Lessons

Individual teachers will choose the mask policy for their studios. A student may also request that the teacher wear a mask during the class.

Safety and Health Recommended Protocols:

Although we have updated the safety and health policy, we encourage everyone in the RMS community to continue to

practice certain health and safety protocols as below:

1) Parents are encouraged to drop off and pick up students at the main entrance.  Do not enter the building unless you need to.

2) Before entering the studios, Students should wash their hands, and after the lesson, students are recommended to wash hands before leaving the school, or use the hand sanitizers that are on the walls of the lobby.

3) All piano keyboards are cleaned and disinfected before the lesson and after with hydrogen peroxide by the teacher.

4) If anyone is feeling sick, please stay home, and contact our office and your teacher as soon as possible to inform you will not be attending the lesson. Your lesson may be cancelled or rescheduled for a make up lesson if enough notice is given. For further details, please refer to our school policy that is posted on our website or refer to the terms and conditions in our current registration form.
