This privacy policy (“Policy”) describes, in general, how Richmond Music School Society (RMS) or (“We” or “Us”) collects information from users of our web site (“Site”) located at, how we use that information, and with whom we may share such information. Please take a few minutes to read our Privacy Policy so that you understand how we treat your information.

At Richmond Music School, we are committed to providing our students and parents with quality education and service. To provide this, it involves the collection and use of personal information, protecting that information is one of our highest priorities. We will not share your personal information with other organizations.


Personal information includes, but is not limited to, name, address, telephone number, email address, and financial information.  This policy does not apply to publicly available contact information (e.g. information available in a phonebook or website listing).

We will only collect personal information in order to:

  • Enroll a parent or student into a lesson, class, or program

  • Process payment for items such as lessons, classes, and donations

  • Identify preferences in order to improve our programs

  • Distribute RMS programs and lessons information

  • Administer scholarship and bursary awards

  • Communication with students and parents relating to lessons and program enrolled



RMS reserves the right and may give permission to appropriate staff, staff of our community partners or outside media, to photograph and record (video or audio) performances, classes, programs, and participants at all our facilities, outreach partner properties and performance venues. Please be aware that these photos or recordings are for promotional purposes and may be used in our website, future print or electronic publications, and media communications. By participating in RMS’ lessons and programs, and as a registered member of RMS, you automatically consent to the video or audio recording or taking of photographs for these purposes. If you wish to opt-out of this condition, please email to with the student’s name and “OPT-OUT” in the subject line. 


We may use your personal information to contact you periodically about changes to our organization, school news, special events, programs that may be of interest, and fundraising efforts.  You can request to be removed from our lists at any time. 



By providing your Personal Information to our Site, you understand and consent to the collection, maintenance, processing, and transfer of such information in and to Canada and other countries and territories.


We will take reasonable steps to protect the security and integrity of all Personal Information provided to us via our school site. Due to the inherent nature of the Internet as an open global communications vehicle, RMS cannot guarantee that information, during transmission through the Internet or while stored on our system or otherwise in our care, will be absolutely safe from intrusion by others, such as hackers.

Through the “contact us” online form or similar feature on our Site, please be aware that your transmission might not be secure. A third party could view your information sent by these methods in transit.


RMS reserves the right to change or update this Privacy Policy, or any other of our policies or practices, at any time, and we will notify users of our Site by posting such changed or updated Privacy Policy on this page. Any changes or updates will be effective immediately upon posting to the Site. Under certain circumstances, we may also notify you of the changes or updates by additional means such as sending you an e-mail.
