Violin Outreach Program

Our Violin Outreach Program (VOP) is taught in a group setting, this program offers students an opportunity to volunteer, perform in the community, collaborate and deepen their violin skills. Students enrolled in VOP are expected to commit to all three terms, September to June.

Please email the office if you wish to put your name on the registration list to save a spot as our spaces for the program are limited. Acceptance into the program for all levels is subject to an assessment by the teacher to determine which level is best suited for the student.

 

As this program set high standards in performance skills, RMS reserves the right to refuse registration to any students our teachers deem unsuitable to join the class.

Fee per student*:   $380 per student per term ( total 3 terms from Sept 2023 to June 2024) 

Format A Schedule Term 3 : (Tues and Fri, beginners' class 330 pm - 430 pm) 

 

Dates: Dec 1 - Mar 1  (including Dec 3 performance)

Format A Schedule Term 3: ( Tues and Fri, beginners' class 330 pm - 430 pm)

Dates: Mar 5 - Jun 7 ( tentative, to be confirmed with concert dates) 

Format B Schedule Term 3:  (Wed- group lesson, beginners' class 345 pm - 445 pm) 

Group lessons: 

Dates: April 3 - Jun 7 

Semi- Private- two students per lesson, 30 minutes once a week (Mon)

Schedule to be arranged with teacher once a week.

The violins are loaned free (first come first serve availability) to students in the program.

*Please note there are no refunds or make-up lessons in VOP Program.

All Group Lessons are non-refundable 48 hours after registration. Refunds and credits are not provided for student absences. Any classes canceled by an instructor will be made up at the end of the term or given credit/refund to the student’s account if no make-up class is made by the end of the term. 

Format A Levels: 11 weeks program of group lessons twice a week. 

  • Beginners First Year – Learn basic violin skills such as posture, bow hold, and finger position while preparing for concerts.

  • Beginners Second Year – Learn to read music, develop a sense of pitch, rhythm, and tone control 

  • Intermediate – Develop stronger technique and performance skills while learning a wider range of repertoire.

  • Advanced – Further your music development and build upon techniques introduced in previous levels. 

Format B Levels: 11 weeks program of one group lesson and 9 weeks of semi-private lessons

  • Beginners– Learn basic violin skills such as posture, bow hold, and finger position while preparing for concerts. Learn to read music, develop a sense of pitch, rhythm, and tone control 

    • (Beginners of the VOP program is 11 weeks with one group lesson and one semi- private (30 min) lesson each week

*Note: An annual membership fee of $50.00 per household applies. Membership registered after January 1 is prorated to $25.00. This membership is a prerequisite to registration and covers the academic year.
